I love to make homemade gifts to give to people. A few years ago I made homemade Strawberry Jam, put them in some of those tiny little jars, you know the ones you get at a hotel breakfast, and gave it to friends and family as gifts.
This year I decided on making some homemade Mint Chocolate Bark and thought I’d share how I made it. You can adjust it to your suiting.
Milk Chocolate (I just used 1x400g bar)
White Chocolate (again I used 400g bar)
Mint Thins (I used 3/4 of a box, roughly chopped)
1tsp Mint Extract (or peppermint extract as Mint is really hard to get hold of)
Green Food colouring (optional)
What you’ll need:
Baking Tray & Parchment paper or Silicone Tray
I started by breaking up the white chocolate and melting it. I did this by putting a glass over a pan of bowling water and putting the chocolate in the bowl. Alternatively, you can zap it in the microwave.
Once the chocolate is melted, remove the bowl from the pan and allow to cool for a few minutes stirring occasionally. Once slightly cooled, add 1tsp of extract and stir in. If you are using food colouring, add until you get your desired colour.
Once everything is mixed and you’re happy, pour evenly into your lined baking tray or silicone tray. I used a silicone tray as I just find them easier to work with. Pop in the fridge for around 15mins to chill.
Whilst the white chocolate is chilling you can melt the milk chocolate and roughly chop the mint thins.
Once the milk chocolate is melted, remove off the pan of boiling water and let it cool for a few minutes stirring occasionally.
Once the milk chocolate has cooled, remove the white chocolate from the fridge and pour over the milk chocolate, spreading evenly. Sprinkle over the mint thins and push them down slightly.
Pop the tray back in to the fridge until completely set (roughly about 30-60mins).
Once chilled and solid, remove from tray and roughly chop up.
I found a cute mason jar that I filled up with bark? Sealed and put a little ribbon around.
Do you make homemade gifts? What have you made?
